Diary 18
20th August
I took back the last boxes on Wednesday 19th August, 2009. Mission complete. Charles and Liz were there. The conversation was polite and to the point
“Thank you very much; we are very grateful.”
And that was that.
I’m not certain about the value of these photographs. I think they are a fascinating record. And Bewdley? I am not certain they see Albert Chambers quite the way I do. Maybe I haven’t told them enough about him. Really though why should they be that interested? He has no links with Bewdley. His collection was donated to the people of Kidderminster where he spent his life. Perhaps I ought to put together a website about him. Then everyone can share it.
Now, where was I? Back to the project I was originally looking into. Where had I got to?
“Anything made by water needs a water wheel to transfer the flow of stream or river into the rotation and power of a drive shaft. Where better to begin than the place where water wheels were once manufactured; The Caldwall Iron and Brass Foundry, Kidderminster, established in 1831 by brothers George and Richard Turton”.
But somehow I don’t feel like carrying on with my original story anymore. Albert has shown me all I need to know; so I think I am going to leave it at that. Maybe I’ll do that website instead.
The End
